The Council of Saudi Chambers is organizing a visit by a delegation from the Saudi-British Business Council to Britain from May 9 to 11, with the participation of a number of council members, to discuss trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.
According to the chairman of the Saudi-British Business Council, engineer Nasser Al-Mutawa al-Otaibi, who will head the delegation, the visit comes within the framework of activities and events of the Joint Business Council at its current session 2016 – 2019, noting that the program will include the holding of the second semi-annual meeting of the Saudi Business Council The British joint in its current session, visiting the city “Sheffield ” which is one of the most important industrial centers in the United Kingdom since the era of the Industrial Revolution, along with a number of public meetings and specialized with British businessmen in various sectors.
The President of the Council stressed the importance of the delegation’s visit and the programme prepared for it, especially since it came a month after the visit of British Prime Minister Teresa May to the kingdom, where diplomats and observers unanimously agreed on the exceptional nature of the visit and the results of its discussions with the Saudi leadership in light of the data. of the Kingdom’s national and regional and global developments.
He added that the discussions of the two sides within the framework of the Joint Business Council will address the investment opportunities available in sectors of mutual interest in the light of the vision of the Kingdom 2030 and the potential of trade and investment cooperation between the Kingdom and Britain now and the future in light of the departure of Britain from the European Union, The joint Meeting will also hear reports on the Saudi-British Partnership forum for Small and medium enterprises held last month in the Oriental Room, and the workshop on infrastructure projects in the kingdom held at the Council of Saudi Chambers last November, as well as the discussion and approval Events planned by the Business Council in the second half of this year 2017.
On the update of the agenda and the Joint Plan of Action, Eng. Nasser Al Mutawa explained that the Saudi and British sides in the Business Council agreed in their recent meetings to identify the advanced industries as one of the main new axes of joint cooperation, given the importance of this area in the development The national industry and industries based on joint investments in the kingdom, as well as its contribution to the transfer and localization of technology, the localization of jobs, the development of local content in industries and the promotion of exports, in line with the strategic orientations of the Kingdom and the private sector within the framework of vision 2030.
In this context, during his visit to Britain, the delegation will be briefed on the Advanced Industries Research Center at the University of Sheffield to learn about some of the industrial and technical advances in Britain and explore the possibilities of cooperation available, and the delegation will meet for this purpose along with officials and researchers at the University of Sheffield Advanced Industries Research Centre, with the chairman of the municipal council and representatives of local industries in the city of Sheffield.
Eng. Nasser Al Mutawa expressed his hope that this visit will be fruitful in promoting cooperation between the Saudi and British business sectors and pave the way for cooperation in the field of advanced industries research and applications and projects based on it to support the scientific and technological capabilities of Saudi industries.
